This past summer I was asked to join the AIGA Atlanta Board of Directors by incoming chapter President, David Laufer. David and I had served on the board together years ago and he was looking for new board members committed to what AIGA stands for and ready to serve a two-year term. After some consideration, I felt that it was a good time to become active again in the local chapter. I’ve found my involvement with AIGA to be the best way to meet other dedicated and talented designers locally and nationally, to keep current on the challenges and opportunities facing our profession, and to work with others to make things happen in our community. AIGA is important as a place to connect, facilitate dialogue, and celebrate design. Though our community is scattered, the Atlanta chapter has worked to create a collective momentum that brings designers together through lectures, workshops, social events and initiatives. In my role as Volunteer Chair, I look forward to providing more opportunities for designers to become involved and connected to all that AIGA has to offer.
